At El Paso Varicose Veins Laser Clinic, we specialize in the treatment of varicose and spider veins. We understand that these unsightly veins can be painful and hinder your everyday activities. That's why we offer Endovenous Laser Ablation, Ambulatory Phlebectomy, and Sclerotherapy; pain-free procedures that can help treat varicose and spider veins. All procedures are walk in-walk out and leave no scarring, so you can resume normal activities immediately.
Endovenous Laser Ablation treats large, bulging varicose veins and their underlying cause, venous valve reflux. In the last few years, the use of laser treatments has become an accepted alternative for surgical stripping. With ELT, no hospital admission or surgery is required and the entire procedure can be performed in less than 45 minutes. Briefly described, endovenous laser ablation is done under local anesthesia by using ultrasound guidance to thread a small laser fiber into the diseased vein. The doctor then delivers laser energy through the fiber which causes the vein to close as the fiber is gradually withdrawn. After the procedure, a compression hose is worn for approximately seven to ten days. Immediately after the procedure, the patient is encouraged to walk for 20 to 30 minutes and resume normal activity. You may use non-aspirin based pain medications if needed.
During ambulatory phlebectomy, varicose veins are removed through a series of tiny punctures using local anesthesia. This is an outpatient procedure with minimal to no scarring. The procedure takes roughly 20 to 45 minutes and you may resume your normal activities immediately. We ask that you walk, bike, or use a treadmill for a maximum of an hour for a few days after the procedure.
During sclerotherapy, we inject a small volume of liquid into the diseased vein, which causes the vein to shrink, close, and gradually disappear. Sclerotherapy is used for spider veins and small varicose veins and might require multiple sessions depending on the number of diseased veins. It is performed in the doctor's office and no anesthesia is required. The procedure takes 15 to 20 minutes. After the procedure, a compression stocking should be worn for two to three days and patients should exercise for up to an hour every day for a few days after the procedure.
